How do I tell my family about the layoff? (Boston)

I was laid off 14 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. Thank you in advance. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
