How do I tell my family about the layoff? - any advice?

I was laid off 16 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I worked as a line cook before this. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
