How do I tell my family about the layoff? - any advice?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a welding apprentice. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
