How do I tell my family about the layoff? after 18 years as a logistics coordinator

I was laid off 14 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
