How do I tell my family about the layoff?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an accounts payable clerk. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. What did you say?

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
