How do I tell my family about the layoff? - 9 months and counting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a line cook. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
