How do I tell my family about the layoff?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a data-entry clerk. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
