How do I tell my family about the layoff? - 3 months and counting

I was laid off 7 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I am in Memphis, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
