How do I tell my family about the layoff? - 3 months and counting

I was laid off 4 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. It has been a long 4 weeks. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
