How do I tell my family about the layoff? - 12 months and counting

I was laid off 26 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I want a plan before I speak. What did you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
