How do I tell my family about the layoff?

I was laid off 25 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I worked as an HR coordinator before this. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
