How do I explain a layoff in interviews? - what worked for you?

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. It has been a long 17 weeks. I have been practising in the mirror. Do you mention numbers?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.
