How do I explain a layoff in interviews? - what worked for you?

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. I worked as a sales associate before this. I have been practising in the mirror. What do you say?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.

Practise it out loud with a friend. Mine felt natural after the third try.
