How do I explain a layoff in interviews? - what worked for you?

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. It has been weighing on me all week. I do not want to blame the company. Do they ask follow-ups?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.
