How do I explain a layoff in interviews? (update)

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. I worked as a welding apprentice before this. I also do not want to seem like a risk. Do you mention numbers?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
