How do I explain a layoff in interviews? (St. Louis)

I have an interview next week and I am unsure how to explain why I left my last job as an electrician's helper. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I also do not want to seem like a risk. What do you say?

I keep it to two sentences: the company cut my team, and here is what I am proud of and what I am looking for next.
