How do I explain a layoff in interviews? - any advice?

I have an interview next week and I am unsure how to explain why I left my last job as a recruiter. I worked as a recruiter before this. I also do not want to seem like a risk. Do you mention numbers?

I keep it to two sentences: the company cut my team, and here is what I am proud of and what I am looking for next.
