How do I explain a layoff in interviews? after 6 years as an event coordinator

They always ask why I left, and I freeze. It has been weighing on me all week. I do not want to blame the company.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Practise it out loud with a friend. Mine felt natural after the third try.
