How do I explain a layoff in interviews? after 15 years as an insurance claims processor

They always ask why I left, and I freeze. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have been practising in the mirror. What do you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
