How do I explain a layoff in interviews? after 14 years as a home health aide

They always ask why I left, and I freeze. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have been practising in the mirror. What do you say?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.

Say it plainly and move on to what you can do. Interviewers usually move on if you do.
