Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - what worked for you?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a paralegal. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
