Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - what worked for you?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a production planner. Thank you in advance. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
