Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - what worked for you?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a logistics coordinator. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Kids often pick up more than you think. A short, calm explanation helped mine feel secure.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
