Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea?, quality inspector here

I was laid off 21 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
