Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an accounts payable clerk. I worked as an accounts payable clerk before this. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
