Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a graphic designer. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
