Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - first time posting

I was laid off 11 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. This is my first time dealing with any of this. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
