Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a project coordinator. It has been a long 2 weeks. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
