Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? (Cleveland)

I was laid off 11 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I want a plan before I speak. What did you say?

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
