Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - any advice?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a paralegal. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I want a plan before I speak.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
