Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? after 14 years as a warehouse supervisor

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a warehouse supervisor. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
