Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? after 10 years as a pharmacy technician

I was laid off 20 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
