Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea?, accountant here

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an accountant. It has been weighing on me all week. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
