Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - 7 weeks in

I was laid off 7 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I want a plan before I speak.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Kids often pick up more than you think. A short, calm explanation helped mine feel secure.
