Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - 16 weeks in

I was laid off 16 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I want a plan before I speak. What did you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
