Hiding a layoff from the family, bad idea? - 11 weeks in

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a hotel front-desk agent. I am in Salt Lake City, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
