Explaining a layoff without sounding bitter - what worked for you?

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have been practising in the mirror. Do they ask follow-ups?

Practise it out loud with a friend. Mine felt natural after the third try.
