My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I do not want to blame the company.

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.

Practise it out loud with a friend. Mine felt natural after the third try.
