Explaining a layoff without sounding bitter after 9 years as a data-entry clerk

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. Any experience at all would help. I have been practising in the mirror. What do you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
