Explaining a layoff without sounding bitter after 3 years as a school bus driver

Priya Lindberg · 2026-05-17T12:47:21.450Z

I have an interview next week and I am unsure how to explain why I left my last job as a school bus driver. It has been weighing on me all week. I have been practising in the mirror. Do they ask follow-ups?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.
