Explaining a layoff without sounding bitter - 9 months and counting

My whole team was cut and I want to say it calmly. I am in Birmingham, in case local advice matters. I also do not want to seem like a risk. What do you say?

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.
