Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - what worked for you?

I have 3 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an insurance claims processor. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
