Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - what worked for you?

I have 2 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a janitorial supervisor. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
