Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - what worked for you?

I have 12 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a line cook. It has been a long 9 weeks. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
