Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? - what worked for you?

We are a household of 7 and need to cut costs quickly. There are 7 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. Did any lender work with you?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $500 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.
