Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? (update)

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. I am in Detroit, in case local advice matters. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
