Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? (update)

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
