Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? (update)

We are a household of 10 and need to cut costs quickly. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I listed every subscription and found several I forgot. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $200 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
