Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first?, mechanic here

We are a household of 4 and need to cut costs quickly. Any experience at all would help. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $600 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
