Budget after a layoff: what did you cut first? (Hartford)

I have 12 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a production planner. Any experience at all would help. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $750 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
